LeBron James smoked marijuana during his junior year in high school. Three other members of the Akron St. Vincent St. Mary starting five smoked with him. Another drank alcohol.

All this took place in a hotel room in Akron the players "had gotten access to," in the guarded words of "Shooting Stars," a book to be released in September. It amounts to James' life story through his tumultuous high school years.

MCA með krabba og Beastie Boys fresta plötunni

Adam “MCA” Yauch of Beastie Boys was diagnosed last week as having a cancerous tumor in his left parotid (salivary) gland. Luckily it was caught early and is localized in one area, and as such is considered very treatable. It will however require surgery and several weeks of additional treatment. Fortunately the cancer is not in a location that will affect Yauch’s vocal chords.

Beastie Boys have canceled all upcoming concert appearances to allow time for Yauch’s surgery and recovery. The release of the band’s forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 will also be pushed back.

Lamar Odom semur aftur við Lakers (Óstaðfest)

Sources close to Lamar Odom have told BSO that Odom will resign with the Lakers.

Odom will sign a 4 year 40 million dollar contract to stay with the champs.

The change of heart came after Lamar reached out to Dr. Jerry Buss. The two of them had a close door meeting in Las Vegas yesterday where they were able to reach an agreement.

Blake Griffin að semja við Nike

Blake Griffin, the first overall selection in this year's NBA draft, is close to signing an endorsement deal with Nike, sources said. It is not clear when or if the deal will be announced, but it could be the first major shoe deal for a high-profile NBA player selected in last month's draft.

Griffin is widely regarded as the most marketable rookie in what has been a down market for player endorsements. Griffin's agent Jeff Schwartz would not comment. Nike officials gave no immediate comment.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)—Well-traveled free-agent forward Matt Barnes(notes) has agreed to a two-year contract with the Orlando Magic.

Barnes’ agent, Aaron Goodwin, who also represents Magic All-Star center Dwight Howard(notes), confirmed the deal in an e-mail Monday, but declined to disclose financial terms.

Carlos Boozer líklega á leið til Miami Heat

Forward Carlos Boozer and the Utah Jazz have "mutually agreed" to a trade that the two-time all-star hopes will send him to South Florida, Boozer told the Miami Herald.

Boozer, who has spent every offseason in Miami since 2004, said it would be a "beautiful thing" to play for the Heat, where he could be reunited with friend and Olympic teammate Dwyane Wade.

Q-Rich til Minnesota fyrir Telfair

It's been an odd summer for Quentin Richardson. He was initially dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Darko Milicic. Reunited with his fellow head-bopper, Darius Miles, I expected some depressing semblance of the old exciting duo that they once were. That was short-lived, however, as Richardson was traded again to the Los Angeles Clippers (the place where the head-bopping began) in exchange for Zach Randolph. Today brought trade number three of the summer for Q-Rich, as he was shipped to Minnesota in exchange for Sebastian Telfair, Mark Madsen and Craig Smith.
