Rasho Nesterovic aftur til Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have come to an agreement in principle on a one-year contract with free-agent center Rasho Nesterovic, a source close to the process told ESPN.com.

The deal is worth $1.9 million according to the source. The Raptors will use what is termed their bi-annual exception to sign Nesterovic.

In any case, back to James and Jane. I have to wonder about the timing of this revelation. Sure, it’s innocent enough of a tidbit about a book that comes out during the fall, but it’s still “shocking” enough to take over the headlines of James and Nike’s poor judgment in making a big Yinka Dare stink and having tapes confiscated of LeBron getting faced by Jordan Crawford. Yeah, if there’s one thing we know about LeBron and Nike, it’s that they’re master marketers. However, it’s easy to see past this, right? We’re not that dumb, are we? This is just LeBron using that rope-a-toke style, high like a butterfly and sting like a hit, and puff, puff, pass the publicity technique, correct? You’re not falling for it, are you? I’m certainly not.

Nike says it is returning videotapes it confiscated of NBA star LeBron James getting dunked on at a recent basketball camp. Nike said it is giving back tapes to two accredited journalists who filmed Xavier’s Jordan Crawford dunking over James during a recent pickup game at a skills academy run by the superstar at the University of Akron. The sports apparel giant said only one of the tapes captured the infamous dunk, which has been an Internet sensation.

Shortly after the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Phoenix Suns for Shaquille O’Neal last month, it was speculated once Wallace took a buyout, and if he didn’t retire, that he would return to either the Cavaliers or the Detroit Pistons.

Wallace took a $10 million buyout from the Suns. He left $4 million on table.

Well, rumors have circulated that Wallace, who had his best years as a pro in Detroit, will sign a one-year deal with the Pistons.

A healthy Wallace would be a valuable asset for the Cavaliers off the bench. His toughness is needed in the Cavaliers lineup. But it appears that Wallace’s toughness will return to Detroit.

Sekou Smith wrote in a blog for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “one of my best spies up north insists that it’s just a matter of time before Wallace returns to the Pistons.”
