Bulls vs. Suns, 1993 NBA Finals, Game 4
By Dr. Jack Ramsay, former NBA head coach
He had so many great games. He always did what it took for his team to win. If it took 55 points to win, he'd come up with 55 points -- as he did on this night against Charles Barkley and the Suns.
Michael always wanted the ball at the end, and he seemed able to make the big play in a critical moment with amazing frequency. Teams would double-team him at times but learned to be reluctant to do so because of his ability to find the open man. Still, scoring was important to him, too. He had a great ability and confidence to score whenever he wanted. I always felt you had to double-team him. If he had a slight flaw in his offensive game, he didn't score quite as well going to his left as he did to his right.
My goal was always to force him baseline and come at him with a second defender. Other teams like the Pistons used this strategy with some success early in his career. But that didn't last forever. His teammates got a lot of open shots, like John Paxson did notably later in this series, because Michael drew all those double-teams. He was a special player.

1997 All-Star Game, Cleveland, Ohio
By Glen Rice, former NBA player
The greatest part about me being All-Star MVP in 1997 is I owe it all to Michael Jordan. He knew I was rolling, and down the stretch he told Coach [Phil Jackson] to leave me in the game.
Apparently, they knew I had a possibility of breaking a record, which I had absolutely no idea about, and he wanted to see it done. We've always been close friends, and he made that moment a very proud moment for me. He could have easily got it.
I mean, MJ had a triple-double, and he's the greatest player to play the game, so you would think the award would go to him. But I think he definitely pleaded a little bit so that I could receive it.

King James sjónvarpsstöð?

...og þá á ég ekki við NBATV.
The LBJ Network? If a report in the New York Daily News is correct, that's one way the Knicks will try to entice LeBron James to sign with them in the summer of 2010.
The report says Cablevision, which owns the Knicks and Madison Square Garden, would give LeBron his own channel as a way to circumvent the salary cap. New York can't offer James more money than the Cavaliers can, so it seems the MSG brass is trying to get creative with the TV gig.

Bulls vs. Knicks, Nov. 21, 1986
By Hubie Brown, former Knicks head coach
He scored 40 that night, including the Bulls' final 18 points over the last six-plus minutes, to lead the team to a 101-99 win over my Knicks on a great play.
The final shot in this game was spectacular because it was against a two-man trap plus help from Patrick Ewing. To see him elevate, beat the trap, and eliminate a 7-footer with his arms raised, and still see the basket and score was absolutely amazing. It was one of the best nonplayoff shots of his career. He had to take the ball into the corner to begin with, and normally a two-man trap will discourage a shot. Because time was running out, he had to elevate, but even so, the basket had to be blocked by Ewing because of his height.
But whether he saw the basket or not, he made the shot. It just took the breath out of us as a team and a coaching staff.

Bulls vs. 76ers, Nov. 16, 1988
By Jim Lyman, former Sixers head coach
Michael Jordan set a Spectrum scoring record against the Sixers with 52 points (24-for-29 shooting). The Sixers ended up winning the game, because they dominated down low.
It seemed like Michael was always at his best against us. He rarely had a subpar game and when the game was over win or lose he was always the pivotal factor. What he did was electrify the building. And even though he was doing incredible things on the court, I felt like we were seeing just the tip of the iceberg. He would do so much more over his career. He was younger then, but later he won all those championships, which, in my mind, made him the best player ever.
He always dominated the game both physically with his great skills and mentally, too. That was his greatest gift.

Free-agent guard Allen Iverson informed the Grizzlies this morning that he will accept a one-year offer to bring his explosive scoring to FedExForum this season, according to an NBA source.
Iversons decision came following a Monday night meeting in Atlanta with Griz owner Michael Heisley, general manager Chris Wallace and head coach Lionel Hollins. Iverson, a 34-year-old, 13-year veteran, will play for a contract that pays $3.5 million (what the Griz have left under the salary cap) and the deal will be loaded with incentives.
