Jamal Crawford líklega farinn til Hawks

NBA front-office sources say that the Warriors and Hawks will soon complete a deal sending Crawford to Atlanta for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton.

One source close to the process told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that the trade remains likely to be formally completed Thursday morning, but another source with knowledge of the Hawks' thinking told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that Atlanta coach Mike Woodson isn't sold on the trade and that Crawford's early termination option in his contract after next season is an issue.

Sonur MJ hættur í boltanum

Jeff Jordan said today that he’s not playing ball at Illinois anymore, and will instead focus on “life after basketball” and just being a student. Although he had scholarship offers from smaller colleges coming out of high school powerhouse Loyola Academy (Ill.), Jordan walked on at Illinois, where he scored a total of 58 points and 42 assists in 59 appearances. As a sophomore he averaged a little more than eight minutes per game.

Mike’s younger son, Marcus Jordan, just finished his senior year of high school and will be playing at Central Florida next season. Marcus is a 6-3 guard and is widely considered a better prospect than his older brother.

Rubio til í að spila frítt

Ricky Rubio's Spanish team, DKV Joventut, has a powerful bargaining chip. The buyout Rubio would need to join the NBA -- being negotiated down as we speak -- could be worth a similar amount as his rookie NBA contract. In other words, he could make millions from whichever NBA team picks him tomorrow, and he could give all or almost all of that money to Joventut.

He might play for years in the NBA without making a penny, (at least before endorsements are considered).

Rubio says that wouldn't bother him. "I have a dream," he said. "I want to play in the NBA." If his rookie contract nets him zero, he says, "I don't care."

Trade slúður: Ekkert verður úr BOS-DET trade

According to the infamous “league sources” and Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics proposed a trade to the Pistons: Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo to Detroit for Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey. And the Pistons shut it down ASAP. Now why exactly would the Celtics want to trade the starting backcourt of a team that just won a championship one year ago? It can’t just be a money thing; Ray’s $19.7 million salary comes off the books in 2010, dwarfing Rip’s $11M expiring deal, and Prince is still owed $11 million in 2010-11. Stuckey has a team-option in 2010 for less than $3 million, and Rondo will be a restricted free agent that summer, meaning Boston would have given up $22 million of potential cap space to get back $14M at the most. So maybe the thought was that the Celtics needed to get something for Rondo rather than lose him in free agency.

The Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed Vince Carter again, sources said. As financial losses mount for New Jersey’s ownership, it appears more likely that the Nets will try to move Carter and the two years and $33.6 million left on his deal. The Nets would have to take Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic in return.

Nets (sem eru að skíta á sig í peningamálum) losna við $33M leifar af samningi við Carter og Cavs fá skorara til að létta á James.

Trade slúður: Cavs og Bucks með skipti

There are rumors surfacing the league that talks with the Cavs and Bucks have been going on since last week. According the league sources, The Cavs would be sending Ben Wallace, Anderson Varejao, Sasha Pavlovic and a draft pick for the services of Michael Redd & Charlie Villanueva.

Sé eitthvað til í þessu erum við að tala um mikla ógn frá þriggja stiga línunni í Cavs liðinu á næstunni.  Redd er 39% og Villenueva er um 33% þaðan.  Redd væri eflaust strax byrjunarliðsmaður en Villenueva fínt bakköpp fyrir James.  Framlínan hjá Cavs yrði mun veikari fyrir vikið og mátti ekki mikið við, en Cavs hafa verið í viðræðum við Wizards um skipti fyrir Antawn Jamison.

Charles Oakley til að herða upp Knicks?

About time!  Það er ekki til betri maður í verkið.

Meanwhile, Charles Oakley is under consideration by Walsh to help big men get down and dirty at the defensive end. Does that mean the Knicks president is unhappy with how easy and how often opponents scored last season? My second question is, how do you teach bringing intimidation and intensity to work every time you get on the court? Oakley also was contacted by Portland officials who suspect it might be good for the team's health if a trace of his brutish attitude rubbed off on Greg Oden.

Yao Ming um Cleveland orðróminn

"This is all an unknown," Yao said in the interview, a transcript of which was posted online Friday.

"I've already been with Houston for such a long time, I still have much affection for this team," Yao said. "Moreover, this past season we were very successful, and that let me see some hope.

"Regardless of whether its a Chinese boss, or a foreign boss, they're both bosses and a boss is just a boss," he added.

Cleveland has not publicly expressed interest in Yao, who has one guaranteed year left on his contract with Houston, including a player option for the 2010-11 season.
