Rasual Butler sendur til Clippers

The New Orleans Hornets, in a move to shed some payroll after the recent acquisition of Emeka Okafor, have agreed to trade swingman Rasual Butler to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future second-round pick, according to NBA front-office sources.

The trade is expected to be announced later Wednesday

Houston Rockets semja við David Andersen

HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets have signed center David Andersen to a multiyear contract to help make up for the loss of Yao Ming.

The Rockets acquired the rights to the 6-foot-11 Andersen in a trade with Atlanta on July 14. Houston scrambled to find a center after announcing in June that Yao was out indefinitely with a hairline fracture in his left foot.

When the reporter reminded James that most players usually shake hands at the end of a playoff series, James bristled again. "No you don't, no you don't," he responded.

After a few more seconds of back and forth, James continued to try to explain his position. "Teamwork has nothing to do with shaking hands," James said. "I'm not a poor sport at all. You can ask anyone that knows me, I'm not a poor sport at all. Who brought up the rule that shaking hands, that's what you're supposed to do? No one shakes hands at the end of series all the time. No one does that. No one does that at all."

Baron Davis týnir tölvu með "private images"

AUGUST 12--A laptop containing "a variety of private images" of NBA star Baron Davis has been stolen and the athlete's lawyers are threatening legal action if the material is published.

The photos and videos "depict, among other things, a variety of private images of our client, his associates and his colleagues," wrote lawyer William J. Briggs, II. Davis "had a reasonable expectation of enjoying total privacy with regard to the images,"

There were a half-dozen playoff caliber teams willing to sign Leon Powe and wait for his surgically reconstructed left knee to heal, but the forward who had been such a big hit in Boston ultimately decided he wanted to team up with an old AAU buddy -- LeBron James.

Powe traveled to Cleveland on Tuesday to have his knee examined by Cavaliers team medical personnel, with the expectation that he will sign a two-year, $1.77 million deal Wednesday.

Eflaust margir Lakers menn þarna úti sem fá hroll við að lesa þetta, en Powe gerði þeim lífið leitt í Celtics/Lakers úrslitunum 2008 þegar hann tætti í sig framlínu Lakers manna hvað eftir annað.  Sterkur leikur hjá Cavaliers og fyrir ekki meiri pening en þetta.  Náist Powe að verða almennilega heill og komast í þokkalegt leikform fyrir næstu úrslitakeppni eru Cavs allir vegir færir, en það er margt sem hangir á spítunni. 

Powe verður að öllum líkindum ekki tilbúinn til að spila fyrr en í febrúar og þá á hann eftir að dusta af sér mesta rykið og komast almennilega inn í leik Cleveland manna.  Tala nú ekki um ef hann slítur krossböndin enn og aftur.  Þ.a.l. gæti þetta orðið að engu en áhættan er vel réttlætanleg með svona lítinn pening undir.  Seinna árið er með team-option sem þýðir að séu Cavs ekki ánægðir með framvindu mála geta þeir sagt honum upp.  Gangi þetta hins vegar upp eru Cavs orðnir að mínu mati mun meiri ógn í úrslitakeppninni en í fyrra.  LeBron og Mo-Will geta skotið eins og enginn sé morgundagurinn með Shaq og Leon Powe undir körfunni, en þegar Powe var heill var hann einn allra besti sóknarfrákastari deildarinnar.

Fabricio Oberto semur við Washington Wizards

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Washington Wizards say they have signed forward-center Fabricio Oberto, giving the team added frontcourt depth.

The 6-foot-10, 245-pound Oberto averaged 3.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in four seasons with San Antonio. The Spurs traded Oberto to Detroit this summer as part of a five-player deal; the Pistons then waived Oberto.

Oberto helped the Spurs win the 2007 NBA title and Argentina win a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics.

Pau Gasol meiddur á fingri eftir landsliðsæfingu

MADRID -- Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol broke the middle finger of his left hand during practice with the Spanish national team and had surgery Monday, the Lakers confirmed.

The injury, first reported by Spanish Web site Marca.com, will sideline Gasol for three weeks.

Lakers spokesman John Black told the Los Angeles Times that according to Gasol's agent, Arn Tellem, there were no issues with the surgery, which took place immediately after the injury occurred Monday.

Marca.com reported that Gasol broke the finger while attempting to block a shot during practice with the national team. Spain, the defending world champions, are preparing for the European championships, which start in Poland on Sept. 7.

The defending champion Lakers do not start training camp until late September. Gasol averaged 18.3 points and 9.6 rebounds last season.
