Ray Allen kennir stökkskotið
17.6.2009

17.6.2009
Whos better Bryant or Jordan?
To me growing up and watching Michael Jordan and knowing everything that hes done for our game. Even Kobe would say you dont want to be compared to that guy. I mean, Jordan is the best that weve seen in our time and a lot of people are going to see for many years to come. But Kobe Bryant is exceptionally great in his own matter. All the things hes been through over the last seven years, for him to get his fourth ring, I think a lot of people were pulling for him to do that. Orlando, I think a lot of people were surprised they made it there but they havent been through nothing yet so you know this kind of team, if they would have won, there would have been a lot of teams and a lot of veterans that played in the league would have been mad about that. I think that everyone is happy that Kobe, the great player that he is, got his fourth ring.
Whos the best player in the NBA today?
I believe that Kobe Bryant is still the best player in the game, his experience and his overall talent. Its not taking away from Lebron, its not taking away from Carmelo, its not taking away from myself. Kobe has been in the game longer than the rest of us, hes older than us, hes smart with the game. Hes the better player.

Trade slúður: T-Mac til Knicks?
16.6.2009
The playoff success of the Houston Rockets without Tracy McGrady has made the injury-plagued all-star expendable. With one year and $23.2M left on his deal -- plus the baggage he brings with him as a high-maintenance personality -- there are few teams that can afford to bring him in. The Knicks, obviously, are one.
The Knicks could put together a package that would save the Rockets some money and include a veteran shooting guard with an expiring contract -- Larry Hughes ($13.6M) -- along with Cuttino Mobley's 80-percent insured $9.5M deal. Mobley could then officially retire with the team that drafted him (and originally knew about his heart condition). Call it full circle.

Chad Ford: The big trade rumor flying around (if you're already tired of the Shaq-to-Cleveland talk) centers on the Hawks' Josh Smith. Several league sources told ESPN.com that the Hawks have been working hard the past few weeks to see whether they can find a taker for Smith.
The Hawks have some financial issues coming into the summer. Two key players, Mike Bibby and Marvin Williams, are free agents. So are a few others on the roster -- Josh Childress, Zaza Pachulia and Ronald Murray. Although the Hawks would like to keep those players, they can't afford to pay all of them. That has opened the door to the possibility of trading Smith, who, although talented, has a reputation as a difficult player to coach.
The Hawks have had no problem finding teams interested in Smith. The issue is the whopping $6 million trade kicker attached to his contract. The trade kicker essentially would require the team that trades for Smith to pay him the $6 million immediately. In this economic climate, many owners will balk at the payment.

Not to take away from Phil, but it's a different record," said Randy Auerbach, who lives in Los Angeles. "You're talking about a record with one team in which he won the first one and then won in eight consecutive years. Phil did it with two different teams and it wasn't consistently. It's about quantity. If that's his case, good for him.
"But it has to be broken down. It's a different record. How do you compare eight in a row, nine in 10 years?"
Phil Jackson er þeim sammála í grunninn:
"Red probably could have won two or three more championships," said Jackson. "But I think Bill, to kind of keep him involved, he turned the team over to Bill in that general manager role and Bill went on to win a couple more championships, playing and coaching at that time. So it's completely different.
"Of course, free agency wasn't part of the game. It was eight and then expanded to 10 teams at that time. Maybe it was nine there and then went to 10. So it was a different league entirely."
