BENNINGTON, Vt. -- Skidmore beat Southern Vermont in the longest game in NCAA Division III men's basketball history -- a seven-overtime marathon.

The Thoroughbreds prevailed 128-123.

It matched the longest NCAA men's game in any division and was two overtimes longer than the previous record at the Division III level. Cincinnati beat Bradley on Dec. 21, 1981, in seven overtimes for the Division I mark; Black Hills beat Yankton in seven OTs on Feb. 18, 1956, for the Division II record.

John Mantas scored 27 points for Skidmore, which got tying shots near the end of four different overtime periods.

Southern Vermont's Lance Spratling played all 75 minutes.

Whut?!  Hvaða tilgangi þjónar það að hafa þjálfara í þessu liði ef enginn ætlar að hlusta á hann eða fara eftir því sem hann segir?  Á bara að mæta í leiki og spá þá í hlutina inni á vellinum?  Sjáum hversu vel það hefur gengið hingað til.  Miami er nú með 8-5 record í deildinni sem er í sjálfu sér ekki slæmt, en liðið hefur ekki enn sýnt alvöru leik á móti alvöru liði.  Tel leikinn gegn Orlando ekki með þar sem Orlando hreinlega mættu ekki til leiks þar.  Nú síðast buzzer beater tap á móti Memphis.  Staðan hjá þeim er alls ekki slæm.  Þetta verður 50-60 sigurleikja season hjá þeim og þeir fara eflaust djúpt í úrslitakeppnina en það hafa Cleveland gert undanfarið líka.  Miðað við væntingarnar sem þríeykið byggði upp í sumar verður þetta að teljast vonbrigði.
